How to be the “Dream” Instagram Business Page?  — 7 tips to Increase your Engagement Activity on Instagram

Engagement is one of the most important metrics for your Instagram business page.

It's a way to show how active and engaged your audience is with your content, and it's a key metric for advertisers. Engagement can also help you build an engaged audience that's more likely to convert into customers and fans.

But engagement isn't just about likes or comments—it's about actions! And if you want to increase engagement on Instagram, you need to make sure that the people who engage with your content are actually taking action in some way. This means remembering that when someone comments on your post, they're not necessarily just liking it—they're interacting with you!

So how do you increase engagement? Easy! It is by making sure that what people see when they come across your post is something related to what they already know or care about, or something that makes them want to take an action right away (like clicking a link).

At this point, we’ll see that engagement on your Instagram page is essential to the success of your business. However, getting enough engagement could be quite hard and somewhat tricky especially for our business owners  who are still at their early stage. Worry no more, we got you on this!

Starting your Instagram page, or you already have one but you’re not getting enough engagement on your posts? Here’s what you need to do to increase it:

1. Your Page's Profile

Every single person that would visit your page, the first thing that they’re going to check is how your page looks. They’re not going to check what you’re offering—for sure they won’t. Instead, they’re going to look if your logo looks good, if your Instagram name and username are related to each other, your page’s biography, the story highlights, and if your content design suits the services/products you’re offering.

Logo: Logo plays a vital role in promoting your brand. The design should be made clear but still aesthetically pleasing that represents your personality (if you’re running a personal brand) or the product that your brand is offering. THIS IS IMPORTANT so you shouldn’t take it lightly.

Name and Username: Of course, you shouldn’t name your business that doesn’t speak about your brand’s products/services and goals. By naming our Instagram Business page, it is better to use keywords that describe your brand — if you’re running a marketing agency (example. Connect | Marketize | Generate). Another thing that most people usually do when creating their Instagram page, most of them would usually make the name and username of the brand all the same! You should stop doing that. Rather, you should utilize your freedom to give a much better identity for your brand. Usernames should always be concise and straight to the point. It is better if you use your brand name on this one. You should also avoid putting too many numbers, underscores, or other elements on your username (@riseupmarketing is better than @riseup_marketing99 right?)

Biography: Your page’s biography is essential. This is actually the part where you’ll give your audiences the overview of what it is you're offering (technically, what your page is all about). Your biography can be your CTA, a catchphrase, or even location. Be creative and put up a bio that speaks about you.

Story highlights: Ever since Instagram have allowed their users to create highlights on their page for their stories, it then became a part of the page’s identity. This specific tool allows businesses to showcase and promote their brand, making their audiences discover what the page is offering in a faster way (rather than scrolling all the way down the page and reading each content posted). Instagram users now prefer the profiles they visit to be very creative and not too bare. With this being said, Instagram highlights are a MUST!

Content: Just like how it really is, your page’s content is the part of your page that gives life to your business. You won’t be able to promote your products/services if you won’t make content for it. However, making contents shouldn't be so random, it should have a theme that is fit to your niche. Post content that represents your brand, and most importantly, post content that's relevant to the people who follow you. Make sure that the people following you see posts that are interesting and useful to them—not just posts featuring products or services they could buy from your company.

2. Establishing connection with your Audience

By running an Instagram page, it isn’t all about making the page exist and posting regular contents. Of course, your page’s visitors would look for a proof if they can trust your page by looking at the identity of your brand, your IG stories, or your replies on the comments section. Getting the trust of your audiences is what you need to prioritize in order for you to get real results and put money into your business.

3. Consistency

Be consistent! If someone has seen three or four similar posts from your page within a short period of time, this could be an indication that they're losing interest in what you're sharing. Try posting something new every few days or weeks so that people know how much value there is behind your brand! This is fundamental on a branding standpoint as well, as they will be more inclined and willing to purchase whatever service or product that you may bring to the table, and they'll also serve as your allies when it comes to protecting your brand's image if your products / services are of high quality, and they will let other people know about these. They will do your marketing for you, to a certain extent.

4. Hashtags

Use a variety of hashtags. You don't have to use every single one, but it's good to have a wide range of hashtags that relate to the type of content you're posting. Try using at least between 10-20 different hashtags on each post. By using hashtags, it enables you as well to be visible to more users, which means more possible clients for your brand.

5. Algorithmic Niche Categorization

Running things on the internet requires a lot more knowledge than you think of. One of these many things is what we call niche categorization that consists of your page identity. In Instagram, this identity is formed through an algorithm to which the app filters your page’s action and behavior patterns such as posting, liking contents, commenting, messaging, engagement with other accounts, IG stories, hashtags, locations, and many more. Through this, it would allow your page to be visible in the explore pages which would bring you high quality followers that are interested in the niche you are in.

6. Paid ads

Paid ads are undoubtedly helpful to every business owner out there as it enables your products/services to reach a wider range of users that you’re targeting. It gives your brand the ability to get quality inbound clients that would bring more money to your business.

7. Invest on your business

Investing in your own business is one helpful way in order for you to generate income to your business. Before you launch your business, make sure that you have enough resources to be able to run it. In this time, social media presence is very important but being the owner of your business doesn’t mean that you should do all the work for it. Therefore, it would be very helpful if you’ll hire a virtual assistant who perfectly knows how to effectively handle your Instagram page and make everything run easily. Less hassle, more time to enjoy  your own life!

To get the most out of Instagram, you need to understand the dynamics and power of social media engagement. You need to see what type of posts gets the most attention, who your customers are and also you have to make sure that you have a steady stream of content flow. Having more likes and followers on Instagram is not all there is — it’s about keeping them engaged and coming back for more!

And there you have it, our blueprint for taking your business' Instagram profile from lagging to thriving. Keeping in mind that even the biggest brands struggle with engagement on Instagram regularly, following these suggestions should provide a good starting point for making positive changes to your own business Instagram prowess.
